Download .mp3s from Hype Machine
If you are awesome, you use The Hype Machine to keep on top of your favorite artists. The worst part about it is that to download any of the tracks, you either have to use 3rd party software like Peel or you have to click on the link to the blog and get the song that way. It’s fucking tedious.
Well, it’s your lucky day bitches, because I figured out a way to download the mp3s without leaving the page you are on. You will need Firefox browser and the add-on Download Helper. Once you have the add-on, it will look something like this in your browser:
When you are looking at Hype Machine, press play on one of the songs.
The icon for Download Helper should light up and start spinning. Click on it, and it gives you the link to download the song:
Click the link, and it will download where ever you have specified (I throw them on my desktop) - note - you have to press “stop” on the flash player on Hype Machine to have the download start.
FOR SOME REASON HYPE MACHINE HAS A 22.6KB/S DOWNLOAD RATE LIMIT. No matter where you are downloading from, it sucks. So yes, it takes 3 or so minutes to download a song. Calm down and have some patience, you A.D.D. bitches.
You may have noticed that the file you download has a ridiculous name like: “719c466267be65dfea0c6c07f7fcd0b7.mp3” No worries, when you add it to your iTunes, the program automatically renames the file to what it was on the Hype Machine site.
A few notes -
1. You have to press “stop” on the flash player on the song you are listening to before you click “play” on the next one, or the Download Helper will have two songs for you to download. With the weird names, you might click the wrong one.
2. You can’t download multiple tracks at once. It will add it to a queue, so you just have to wait a little bit.
And there you have it, enjoy download the nine million Justice and Chromeo remixes all from one page.
